Our Pastoral Council is made up of 12 parishioners who help foster pastoral or mission activity that organizes the community into one of discipleship and evangelization. Council members serve three-year terms to a maximum of six years. The council is assisted in its role by committees. Each Pastoral Council member also serves as a liaison to a parish committee.
Council Officers: 2024-2025

Parish Trustees (The parish trustees, although civil officers of the parish corporation, are ex officio members of the Pastoral Council)
The Buildings and Grounds Committee deals with the "nuts and bolts" of the parish property. Its members are knowledgeable in areas of construction, building trades, maintenance, heating and cooling, etc. The primary work of the committee is to ensure a smooth running facility while operating within the budget. Each year the committee produces a "building audit." This is a careful look at all the facilities to assess the condition of the property. From this audit, the committee produces a plan to repair and maintain the property. This plan is an essential piece of the annual budgeting process. The Buildings and Grounds Committee also is involved in reviewing bids and contracts for the various services in the maintenance of and improvements to St. Leonard facilities. The committee serves as a body of experts who advise the parish director of administrative services.
The Christian Learning and Spirituality Committee (CLAS) meets during monthly scheduled meetings to review the present status of the Lifelong Learning Christian Formation programs, sacramental preparation activities, and special need programs at St. Leonard. The committee provides guidance and suggestions to the Elementary and Youth Ministry Christian Formation directors, the Christian Formation Coordinator, and other departmental personnel.
St. Leonard Congregation Endowment Fund, established in 1997, is a permanent fund. The principal- built up through memorials and other donations- remains intact while investment earnings are used to benefit the parish.
Donating is a wonderful way to express confidence in the parish and to support it in perpetuity.
The funds are carefully invested by the Catholic Community Foundation. Part of the growth of the fund is distributed annually to support programs and purchases which help the parish to fulfill its mission.
Individuals, committees, organizations and ministries may apply to the Fund for a grant. To apply, one must meet one or all of these standards:
Money is a precious resource. The Finance Council helps the pastor and director of administrative services in the administration of the annual budget of the parish to carry out the parish's mission. It is governed by both civil and church laws. Its membership is constituted by these laws. It participates in establishing parish priorities by recommending how the parish's money will be spent. Comprised of the pastor, the two parish trustees, a representative of the Pastoral Council and a number of volunteer parish members appointed by the pastor, the Finance Council monitors the income and expenses of the parish. It advises on parish investments and debts, and meets with department heads annually regarding their proposed budgets.
The mission of the St. Leonard Human Concerns Committee is to build a compassionate, caring community through service to others in the manner of Christ. The committee seeks to foster an atmosphere of respect for life and show concern for social justice issues.
Our parish employs retains more than 45 full and part time employees. This large staff must be managed fairly and professionally.
The primary work of the Human Resources Committee made up of parishioners is to create policies and procedures that both support the parish employees and secure good services for the parish. The committee advises the pastor and appropriate pastoral staff in workplace and employment matters. It serves as liaison between the parish employees and Finance/Parish Council. Committee member responsibilities include: monitoring the policies and procedures governing employees; creation and approval of job descriptions and analysis of remuneration and fringe benefits.
The Parish School Committee (PSC) is the advisory body of St. Leonard School. It strives constantly to improve the standards of education with regard to curriculum, faculty and physical facilities. Parishioners (who serve three-year terms), the pastor and the principal constitute its membership.
The Stewardship Committee strives to promote the biblical concept of stewardship to all parishioners and parish groups.
A steward is one who receives God's gifts gratefully, cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable manner, shares them in justice and love with others and returns them with increase to the Lord.
This committee is committed to creating a welcoming parish and to affirming the talents and gifts of each parish member. Members help plan our annual Ministry Fair and annual parish commitment card/pledge appeal. Its hospitality includes planning receptions for new Catholics welcomed into the Church at the Easter Vigil as well as following the Mass of Remembrance.
At St. Leonard Parish, there are three groups that work with liturgy: the Worship Committee, the Liturgical Environment Committee and staff members who are the liturgy planners.
The Worship Committee is a crucial standing committee of the Pastoral Council that meets nearly every month. It nourishes and gives direction to the liturgical aspect of parish life. The Worship Committee helps ensure that parishioners receive opportunities to deepen their faith through a variety of prayer experiences and liturgical celebrations.
