Sacrament Prep for Youth
Baptism
Baptism of a child under the age of seven:
We are happy you would like to have your child baptized! New parents take a class to learn more about baptism, and it's ideal if the class can be taken before a new baby arrives. Our next class will be April 22 at 6:30 p.m. (via Zoom). Contact Bridget to get started.

First Reconciliation & Holy Communion
First Communion is the first time that a person receives the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, which is the eating of consecrated bread and sometimes drinking of consecrated wine. Catholics should be in a state of grace when receiving Communion, which is why the Sacrament of Reconciliation is given to us first and on a regular basis.
Preparation for First Communion is a two-year process. In addition to class enrollment for two years and meeting other preparation requirements, full, conscious and active participation at Sunday Mass week after week is the most powerful and most significant means parents have for preparing their child to receive Communion for the first time. Contact Lisa here or visit our Elementary Formation page for more.

Confirmation
Confirmation strengthens and seals the graces of Baptism, binding them more perfectly to the Church, and strengthening them in their witness to Christ by word and deed and in their work to bring to its fullness the Body of Christ. Confirmation calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world. The sacrament of Confirmation is conferred through anointing with chrism and the laying on of hands- a signing with the gift of the Spirit.
In our two-year program that prepares youth for Confirmation, students select 8 out of 10 elective classes- Being Catholic, Church History, Confirmation, Liturgy, Mary & the Saints, New Testament, Old Testament, Prayer, Sacraments and Stewardship. Other preparations include completing Mass reflections, attending a retreat each year, performing service each year and attending prayer services. Contact Bethanne

Youth Ministry page for more.

Sacraments at a Later Age & Becoming Catholic
Sacraments at a Later Age (SALA) is a program for children in grades 4-10 who have been delayed in the reception of the sacraments of Baptism and/or First Communion and/or Penance. SALA is a two-year process. During the first year, participants attend the parish's Religious Education classes only. The second year of the process includes sessions from November to Easter in addition to regular elementary or youth ministry religion classes. Contact the Christian Formation office at 262-679-0880.
