Human Concerns Committee

The mission of the St. Leonard Human Concerns Committee is to build a compassionate, caring community through service to others in the manner of Christ. The committee seeks to foster an atmosphere of respect for life and show concern for social justice issues. Committee members and other volunteers fulfill this mission with the following projects:

Lenten Collections 2025 Easter Food Collection 2025
  • Advent Giving Tree
  • Winter Wear Drive
  • Easter Food Distribution
  • Thanksgiving Food Distribution
  • Parish Food Pantry
  • Lenten Collections
  • Right To Life/Social Justice
  • School Supply Collection
  • South Side Meal Program
  • Dinners for The Guest House
  • Pack stock boxes for Hunger Task Force

We also appreciate monetary donations to support these projects. Please make checks payable to "St. Leonard Human Concerns Committee" and mail them to the parish or put in a clearly marked envelope in the weekend Mass collection.

Food Pantry

All parishioners are welcome to contribute nonperishable food items to our Food Pantry all year. Containers are located in the hallways outside of church. Our surplus of food is shared with the Muskego Food Pantry and our sister parish. Items may be dropped off before weekend Masses. Thank you!

Please follow these guidelines when donating items:

  • Keep to the basics. This makes it easier for families to prepare healthy yet quick meals.
  • Consider providing healthier options. When healthy foods are not available people may choose ones that are higher in calories and lower in nutrition. People who rely on food pantries are disproportionately at risk for diet-related diseases.
  • Consider providing household and personal cleaning items and paper products. People who rely on the food pantry do not receive these items through other benefits.
  • Avoid donating odd, out of date/close to expiration date and opened packages.
  • Consult the list of requested items (click the button below).

Southside Meal Program

The Southside Meal Program is seeking volunteers to serve food at our site on 10th & Madison. Volunteers are split into teams so that each person serves three times a year on the second Tuesday of the month. Volunteers must be present from 4:45 p.m.-6:15 p.m. To learn more contact Mary Dentice at 414-412-2802.

On the second Tuesday of each month, parishioners donate a main dish item, sides and beverages to serve more than 100 people. Prepared food is dropped off at St. Leonard and it is then taken to the meal site by the volunteer servers for the day. We've been providing and serving a monthly meal at the South Side St. Vincent de Paul meal site for more than 40 years.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

The Muskego conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society helps people in need with food or food certificates, utility payments, furniture, appliances and clothing. Money and other support for this chapter come from the "poor boxes" in the narthex, special collections throughout the year, and from some items on our parish Advent Giving Tree.

Our chapter of St. Vincent de Paul was honored with the Ozanam Medallion for excellence in service in 2023.
